
Dr Mehdi Oonchi
Dr. Mehdi Oonchi is a second-year Periodontics resident at the University of British Columbia. He first completed his dental degree (DDS) at Tehran University of Medical Sciences in 2006, then earned his DMD from UBC in 2010, graduating among the top of his class.
Dr. Oonchi is an experienced general dentist with a strong passion for implant dentistry, surgical extractions, and periodontal surgery. He is also highly trained in IV, oral, and inhalation sedation, enabling him to provide safe, comfortable care for both adults and children with dental anxiety.
He is committed to delivering careful, patient-centered treatment and places high value on patient experience and comfort. Dr. Oonchi is dedicated to lifelong learning and continuously pursues advanced training in the latest technologies and surgical techniques. Over the course of his career, he has received multiple awards and certifications, including recognition from the BC Society of Orthodontists, Dean’s List honours, IV Sedation, Moderate Pediatric Oral Sedation, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support.
Dr. Oonchi believes in giving back to the profession and has contributed numerous volunteer hours to community dental programs.
Outside of dentistry, he enjoys skiing on the local mountains, playing tennis, swimming, and traveling with family and friends.

Dr. Amr Farrag is a Canadian board certified prosthodontist with over 19 years of experience, recognized for his expertise in advanced dental care and his commitment to both patients and education. He graduated with honors in 2006 and began his career combining clinical practice with an academic role.
After relocating to Canada, Dr. Farrag successfully completed the Canadian equivalency process and earned his dental license in British Columbia. He went on to pursue a Master’s degree and a Diploma in Prosthodontics at the University of British Columbia (UBC), where he now serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor, mentoring future dentists.
Dr. Farrag is a fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and is affiliated with the BC Cancer Agency, where he provides care on a weekly basis. His commitment to research and innovation has been recognized with several awards, including:
